HELP US FIGHT YOUTH VIOLENCE
The Debutante & Esquire Boot Camp: Transforming teens into positive, powerful, achievers!
Chicago, IL June 11, 2008 - In addition to being the city of more opportunity, development, and excitement, Chicago has also a disturbing side. Chicago youth are at war; between January and April of this year, 22 youth had already been murdered. In anticipation of increased violence as the weather heats up, the police are being armed with assault weapons! It is heartbreaking to our youth in this state. This fighting and killing is a result of hopelessness and frustration. Teens are crying out for help, and where some see despair, others see opportunity: a time to reach out and embrace the youth and show them a way off the streets and into life. A group of pro-active community members have created the Transformed Teens organization dedicated to transforming at-risk teens into positive powerful achievers. Partnering with APAC (Austin People’s Action Center), this summer they will produce the Debutante & Esquire Boot Camp and are actively looking for youth to participate.
The Debutante & Esquire Boot Camp is an intensive preparatory program designed to help good teens avoid trouble, by engaging them in productive positive activities. It is a crash course in the tools and resources needed to succeed as young people transition into adulthood. The program helps youth see how to live a purpose-filled life, have a positive impact on their community, and pursue their dreams. The program will expose participants to the importance of: college preparation, financial planning, etiquette, grooming, health, and social skills. At the successful completion of the program, the participants will be presented as Debutantes & Esquires at the Royal Ball. Boot Camp graduates will then have the opportunity to join a social organization and continue the work and activities they experienced during the Boot Camp.
Participants must be 14-19 years and have completed at least 1 year of high school. Students, Parents, or organizations interested in participating/ having their youth participate can receive an application by visiting

Transformed Teens is an Illinois non-profit corporation founded to facilitate the transformation of average youth into positive powerful achievers.
